For anyone who already owns a Nespresso Original machine, the system is no longer in question. The coffee is. The aluminium capsules in this range are made to fit that machine, each sealed with a measured dose and calibrated grind for steady extraction. A pack of 10 capsules holds roughly 55 grams of coffee. Across the range the choices run from pure Arabica profiles, with floral and fruity notes, to Arabica and Robusta combinations built for body and persistence, with intensity ratings from 5 to 12 on a 13-point scale.
Three variables shape what ends up in the cup. The blend itself comes first: a 100% Arabica leans towards floral and fruity aromatics with a lighter body, while an Arabica and Robusta combination adds structure, produces a thicker crema and brings depth towards chocolate, cocoa and spice. Then there is the roast, stated on every box, light for delicate and aromatic cups, medium for balance, dark for a deeper character. Finally, the aromatic notes printed on the packaging, from biscuit to caramelised to woody, preview the cup. Type matters too: some blends suit a short ristretto, others a lungo. Packs come in 10 or 30.The Lavazza compatible capsules range, blend by blend
For a daily espresso that goes down easily, Qualità Oro is a 100% Arabica from Central and South America, lightly roasted, with floral and fruity notes and a creamy, delicate profile. Qualità Rossa brings Arabica and Robusta together for a fuller body, with chocolate and dried fruit notes and a medium roast, a dependable choice that holds its character even with milk. Both come in packs of 30 capsules, and Tales of Roma, a medium-roasted Arabica and Robusta blend with nutty and chocolate notes, offers another reading of the everyday cup.
Where strength and persistence come first, Espresso Maestro Intenso draws woody and spice notes with a cocoa aftertaste from its Arabica and Robusta blend. Tales of Napoli pushes the dark roast further, its caramelised and cocoa notes recalling the character of an espresso served in Naples, suited to those who take their coffee short and vigorous. Built for a concentrated extraction, Espresso Maestro Ristretto uses dark-roasted beans and caramelised and chocolate aromatics for a small but powerful cup.
For a longer drink, Espresso Maestro Lungo is a lightly roasted 100% Arabica with floral and fruity notes, formulated to keep its character in a larger cup. The Gourmet line moves in another direction: Espresso Gourmet Caramel is a 100% Arabica with biscuit aromatics, while Espresso Gourmet Chocolate brings nutty notes from an Arabica and Robusta blend. To keep caffeine in check without dropping the habit, Decaf is an Arabica and Robusta blend decaffeinated through a natural process, with chocolate and dried fruit notes and a reduced caffeine content that suits an afternoon or evening espresso.
These aluminium capsules are made for Nespresso Original machines and will not fit Nespresso Vertuo or other capsule systems. For an A Modo Mio machine, Lavazza produces a separate line dedicated to that system. The two ranges are not interchangeable.
A pack of 10 capsules contains approximately 55 grams of roasted, ground coffee, which works out at around 5.5 grams per capsule. The grind is calibrated for the Nespresso Original extraction system, so the dose and the particle size are set to deliver a consistent espresso.
The intensity rating sits on a 13-point scale specific to the Lavazza range and reflects the body and aromatic persistence of each blend. A lower number points to a gentler, more delicate profile, while a higher number marks a fuller, more pronounced espresso. It serves as a guide for comparing blends rather than a measure of quality.
Yes. Several blends, among them Qualità Rossa, Espresso Maestro Intenso and Espresso Maestro Ristretto, come in packs of 30 capsules alongside the standard 10-capsule format. The larger packs suit the blends you drink regularly.
Yes. Decaf is an Arabica and Robusta blend decaffeinated through a natural process. Under European regulations, decaffeinated coffee is classified as a product with reduced caffeine content, since it retains trace amounts. The blend keeps its chocolate and dried fruit notes for an espresso that works in the afternoon or evening.
Fuller blends with Arabica and Robusta compositions tend to hold their character beneath steamed milk. Qualità Rossa, with its medium roast and chocolate notes, makes a dependable base for cappuccinos and lattes, as do the more intense blends in the Espresso Maestro line. Lighter, pure Arabica profiles are better suited to black coffee.
