Lavazza Foundation and Carcafè Foundation together in a project to support nine hundred coffee producers.
The Lavazza Foundation, which has always been close to the needs of the communities in which it operates, has joined the Carcafè Foundation in a project to support hundreds of coffee producers in the Meta Region, in Colombia. In its fourth phase, the number of beneficiaries impacted by project reached topped nine hundred coffee producers.
Meta is an isolated Colombian rural region that, over the years, has suffered the violence of civil war and the spread of illegal crops. It enjoys an ancient coffee tradition and that in the production of high-quality coffee it will find the engine of its rebirth.
For this reason, the Foundation intervened to support those coffee producers who, for two consecutive years, have obtained the Rainforest Alliance certification. Cultivation techniques, as well as the profitability of their product, are increasing.
Our goal is to train producers in coffee cultivation methods with a focus on quality and sustainability, improve the infrastructures available to producers for better coffee cultivation and increase the competitiveness of the region through better access to technology.
The Lavazza Foundation also supported a project to improve access to technology and the internet in remote coffee-growing areas.
